Colegio Boston, nestled in the valley in Antigua Guatemala, is a private school which was started more than twenty years ago by women who were distressed by the lack of educational opportunities for girls in the area.  Three of them owned and ran a well-known and highly acclaimed girls school in Guatemala City, and felt the need to help young women receive a good education even though they lived in the province.  The school has grown to become a coed school with more than 500 students and offers a complete education from the pre-school level to high school and vocational degrees.

As the years went on, the name Colegio Boston grew in stature, and our graduates are now offered jobs before they even begin their senior years.  Students come from many towns in Guatemala to attend school at all levels.

Although Colegio Boston is not operated by any church or denomination, we do strive to instill human values and basic religious teachings which are part of the backgrounds of our multicultural student population.  Honesty, responsibility, loyalty, generosity and love to our fellow men are important parts of our everyday lives and our everyday education.

As we have students from a number of foreign countries and from various ethnic groups here in Guatemala, the economical differences among students are great.  For this reason, more than ten percent of the students receive some kind of financial aid from tutors, enterprises or the school, whether in actual tuition or in books, uniforms, or inscription fees.  It has been most rewarding to see the results of our mixture here. The students have learned to be more tolerant and the self-esteem of each individual has improved greatly.

English is taught not as a foreign language but as a second language in school, starting when the children are three years old.  The text books we use are the same series used in schools in the United States, from McGraw-Hill, Scott Foresman and other publishing houses.

Our aim at Colegio Boston is to help the students reach as far as their imaginations permit, because the possibilities of tomorrow are unlimited.
